Chelation

The body has an amazing ability to heal and detoxify itself. However, insults from the environment can build up over time and overrun the system. Additionally, genetic variables make each of us susceptible to different toxins. These toxic exposures can build up in the body and result in a variety of symptoms.

Dr. Brandeis will first work to determine which lab tests are appropriate for you.

Heavy metal testing can be done through blood, hair and urine. Studies show that the most common metals, such as lead and mercury, are more accurately measured in the urine. Dr. Brandeis will run 2 urine tests to determine if heavy metals are present in the system. The first test is a Urine Toxic Elements profile from Doctors Data. The second test will include a 12-24 hour chelating agent to pull potential toxins out of storage. The results are then compared, and a diagnosis of heavy metal toxicity will be determined.

Next, its important to understand the cause of accumulation of toxic substances. Genetics, infection, and toxins themselves all play a role in the healthy body’s ability to detoxify. By addressing these underlying causes, and improving the body’s ability to detoxify itself, chelation outcome can be vastly improved.

At Care Practice, Dr. Brandeis uses the most current scientific research to guide his diagnostic decisions and treatments. We work closely with all of our patients to determine the cause of illness, and strive to help you achieve your optimum health and wellness.
